Travel Tips For Thanksgiving

If you’re planning to travel for the Thanksgiving holiday, you are not alone. In fact you are joining about 23 million people in the friendly skies. If you’re not booking a private air charter with a company like Sky Limo, you’ll need to know how to handle the chaos at airports all across the U.S. during that time. Try not to travel on that Wednesday before Thanksgiving which is November 23rd and avoid that Sunday after the holiday as well. These days will be extremely busy with air travel, with long lines at the airports and full flights, so choose your seat wisely. If you’re looking for the cheapest airfare, try flying on November 24th which is Thanksgiving Day and return on that following Saturday. Try to avoid connections in Atlanta’s International airport because this busiest U.S. airport will be even more chaotic during this holiday season. Chicago’s O’hare will also be busy with Los Angeles International Airport taking third place.

If you’re having second thoughts about facing the dreaded journey at the airport, consider flying on a private aircraft. You won’t wait in any line, have all the privacy in the world as well as legroom and a comfortable flight. Sky Limo also offers exclusive jet concierge services should you need to reserve hotel rooms or a car rental during your trip. Call Sky Limo to find out how you can book your very own private air charter.
Happy Thanksgiving!

The New Boeing Dreamliner

Just recently, according to MSN, the much-anticipated Boeing 787 Dreamliner took its first flight from Tokyo to Hong Kong. The commercial flight was mostly made up of aviation reporters and enthusiasts that paid thousands of dollars to board that first flight. The newest Boeing is 20% more fuel efficient than other commercial planes, has 30% larger windows (that come with glare-reducing systems), better lighting and more overhead space (every passenger can have one carry-on). Its air pressure and humidity levels are closer to what’s found on the ground, allegedly easing up jet lag. The humidity is said to be at 16% with a cabin pressurized at a lower level, supposedly leaving travelers with less headaches and more energy.

According to MSN, this new Boeing 787 is supposed to provide nonstop routes for cities that typically don’t have them, because it can hold a smaller number of travelers (200 or so) compared to other Boeings that have the capacity to fly 800 people. Larger planes aren’t always profitable, but the Dreamliner will make it possible with routes like San Francisco to Manchester or England to Boston.

The Boeing 787 might be fuel efficient and provide extra perks, but there’s still nothing like flying on a private jet with a private aviation company. It’s comfort at its best, with tons of flexibility, luxury and concierge services to help you with your trip.

Busy Airports

With Thanksgiving around the corner, travel plans are on everyone’s mind. Busy airports like Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International airport are even busier. Atlanta’s airport actually has about 90 million travelers every year and joins JFK, LAX and Chicago’s O’Hare in the busiest airport lineup. Can you imagine all the waiting around, the long coffee lines, the dreaded security checks, full boarding areas and the unpleasant journey of traveling commercial. Why not charter a private jet this holiday season. Travel aboard a private aircraft and take advantage of all the luxuries that come with flying solo. But if you have to fly on a commercial airline, research the airport you’re departing from before the day of your flight. Find out where you can have lunch, entertain restless kids or even enjoy some art or a spa appointment. Knowing the airport and being prepared can really ease up the stress levels, helping you arrive rested at your final destination so you can enjoy your holidays with your family.
Chartering a private jet is less expensive than you think, try call Sky Limo to find out more about chartering a private aircraft for you and your family so you can enjoy the privacy and flexibility of traveling in luxury.

Legroom Anyone?

Traveling these days can be so uncomfortable, with dreaded journeys at the airport, long waiting time at the security lines, hiked up prices for everything from snacks to magazines and so many more unpleasant experiences. The commercial flight isn’t that fun either. An airplane shared with hundreds of people, uncomfortable seats, and don’t even try to ask for a blanket, in the best of cases it’s going to cost you.

Legroom is also delicate subject, as there is none for most passengers on most flight. Travelers, especially tall ones, have their knees glued against the seat in front of them for the entire flight, giving them back pain and stiff joints. MSN reports that the average coach seat on a commercial airline has 31 inches of legroom. (Spirit Airlines has only 28 inches, JetBlue has 34 inches). Some commercial airlines even ask for an extra fee to possibly add three extra inches, but even if you’re willing to pay, that doesn’t mean you’ll be able too, because there’s only a very small number of seats with those extra three inches.

If legroom on a flight is an issue for you, opt to fly on a private air charter with Sky Limo Air Charter. You’ll have all the legroom you want because the entire private jet will be yours. You’ll have plush, leather seats, privacy and silence, not to mention the very best in concierge services to help you map out your vacation or business trip.

Free Flight to Japan?

Too good to be true? Sky Limo Air Charter has found out some of the details behind this offer for a free trip to Japan. According to UK’s Telegraph, Japan will be giving away 10,000 foreigners free airfare tickets to visit their country next year. The goal is to boost tourism since it has taken a dive because of all the latest natural disasters. The number of foreign travelers has dived to over 50% less after the March 11th earthquake and tsunami and the explosion at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant.

The Japan Tourism Agency is planning to ask the future visitors to submit online applications for their free flight to Japan. The tourism agency will ask the foreigners to detail the area of Japan they would like to visit and ask them to also commit to writing a report of their trip that will later be published online. The idea behind this tactic is that the Japan Tourism Agency will get positive reviews to help make international visitors comfortable about taking a trip to Japan. This is expected to start in April 2012 so check out the Japan Tourism Agency’s website for more updates on the program.

New Airport Screening Procedures for Children

There’s been a lot of talk lately regarding the screening procedures for traveling children. Many parents are outraged and unhappy with the way their kids are treated at airports. So the TSA is now rolling out new procedures to reduce the number of pat downs at airport checkpoints. The new rules say that children under 12 years old will be allowed to keep their shoes on. According to CNN, if a metal detector or full-body mage detects a suspicious object, kids are allowed to pass through multiple times in order to identify the problem. The TSA will also have the choice of swabbing children’s hands for explosive residue versus patting them down. Pat downs will be used if the problem or concern persists. There are also pilot programs aiming at reducing the number of pat downs for children that are underway at various airports including Boston Logan International, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International, Miami International, Orlando International, Houston International and Denver International.

If you rather not deal with the procedures and the dreaded airport experience altogether, book a private air charter for you and your children through Sky Limo. Expensive Airports, Expensive Fares

For those of you that are scaling back on some of the private jet usage, and flying with commercial airlines instead, note that depending on your departure airport, your airfare can be more expensive. Take for example a flight to Texas. Is you’re flying into Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport, you’ll probable pay the most expensive average domestic airfare in the U.S. which is about $477. If you were to take your flight from 29 miles away at Hobby Airport, you will pay the lowest average airfare in the country for about $299. That’s quite a difference. The average airfare have continuously increased for the past three years at Houston’s Bush Intercontinental and it’s not the only airport that’s expensive to fly out from.

MSN reports a list of the top 10:
Houston Bush in Texas, Huntsville in Alabama, Newark-Liberty in New Jersey, Cincinnati in Ohio, Washington Dulles, Charleston in South Carolina, Memphis and Knoxville Tennessee, Dallas Fort-Worth in Texas and Madison, Wisconsin.
So if you’re not flying on a private aircraft due to budget cuts, make sure you’re really saving money by avoiding these most expensive airports when you can.

What You Need to Know About Hotel Ratings

Hotel ratings differ in different countries. What consists of a five-star hotel rating here in the U.S. is not the same in Italy for example. In America, the most trustworthy sources of hotel ratings are Forbes and AAA. With Forbes, hotels have to meet specific criteria such as greeting guests curbside within a minute and offering tasting samples to guests who order wine by the glass in order to get the highest rating. In Italy, all it takes is a 24-hour reception desk, receptionists that speak three languages and double rooms to get a five-star hotel rating.

Before you book a hotel room, verify where their rating comes from and take that into consideration before you call the accommodation your home away from home. Is the source a privately-owned company? Is it a hotel booking site like Orbitz or Priceline that have their own rating system that are not even published on their sites? Is it from user-generated sites that rely on feedback and reviews. Is it based on the government-run ratings system which is mostly for European hotels with sometimes ratings based on features like air conditioning versus quality.

Once you find your five-star dream hotel room, call Sky Limo Air Charter for your own private jet flight to your dream destination. Expect luxury, comfort and privacy aboard a spacious private aircraft with a jet concierge staff to make your journey unbelievable.

Boarding an Aircraft

Commercial airlines are always looking to find the fastest way for passengers that are flying aboard their planes to actually board. The faster, the more money airlines can make, saving up to $30 per flight for every minute that’s cut from the boarding process. There are plenty of ways passengers can load a plane on record. There’s the method that suggests people board by alternating rows, starting from the back of the aircraft which is actually said to be the fastest. There’s the more familiar way which is actually the slowest way, involving passengers to board in descending groups of rows. There’s the randomized way that commercial airlines like American Airlines is trying. This involves coach passengers boarding in the order they checked in no matter where their seat is.

Sky Limo Air Charter doesn’t worry about how passengers board our private jets. There’s usually no wait for any of our travelers, they’re all given the very best service in the air. A private jet means more legroom, more privacy, more flexibility with schedules and itineraries as well as access to exclusive jet concierge services. Flying with Sky Limo sure beats any other flying experience!

The Ritz Carlton in Moscow is offering luxury at 18,000 dollars per night with floor to ceiling views of the Kremlin, Red Square and St. Basil’s Cathedral. The opulent suite offers a living room, dining are, grand piano and even a library. The Royal Suite at the Four Seasons Hotel George in Paris beats the last two when it comes to price tag per night. Now, it houses a collection of uniform patches paying tribute to the volunteers from around the world who helped during the tragedy. The Lower Manhattan area also has popular museums great for the entire family, such as the National Museum of the American Indian, New York Police Museum, the Museum of Jewish Heritage and Skyscrapper Museum.

Airline Healthy Fare

Many commercial experimented (and still do) with various healthy foods they can offer their in-flight passengers. But they have found that passengers still rather choose the salty and carbohydrates-filled goodies versus the healthier fare. Some of the reasoning behind these less-than-optimal choices is because people that are flying aren’t necessarily eating because they are hungry, they are eating because they are bored and are looking to pass the time. Alaska Airlines offers several coach class options including vegan and gluten-free foods as well as chicken and vegetable meals. However, they found passengers rather order the quarter-pound cheeseburger. United Airlines tried offering active and organic snack boxes with high protein, low-fat and organic items in the past, but ended up donating most of the food to food banks before eliminating them from their menu. Their most popular now is a tapas snack box that has nine different foods from almonds to olives. Delta Airlines has many choices including a low-fat Greek yogurt with fruit and nut bar, toffee-caramel popcorn and Pringles.

If you’re looking to have specific foods, including a gourmet and healthy fare, charter a private jet with Sky Limo Air Charter. We’ll offer you the very best of meals in flight along with the utmost privacy and flexibility of managing your own itinerary and schedule. Sky Limo’s private aviation company also offers jet concierge services that can make sure you have gourmet groceries at your hotel in your final destination.

Advanced Imaging Technology at Airports

For those times you aren’t able to charter a private jet, Sky Limo Air Charter is helping you understand Advanced Imaging Technology with help from the TSA website. Since 2007, AIT is being used at airports. The technology, millimeter wave and backscatter, can detect plenty of threats to help protects passengers. AIT can screen passengers for metallic and on-metallic threats such as weapons, explosives and other objects that are concealed. The millimeter technology bounces electromagnetic waves off the body to create a black and white 3d image, while the backscatter technology projects low level x-ray beams over the body to create a reflection of the body that’s displayed on the monitor. You should know that the AIT is safe and meets the national health and safety standards. After numerous evaluations for the backscatter, the results confirmed that the radiation doses per screening were below the dose limits specified by the American National Standards Institute. The AIT is even safe for children, pregnant women and people with medical implants.
When you don’t feel like going through the dreaded hassles of the airport, call Sky Limo so you can fly on your very own private jet. By chartering your own flight with Sky Limo’s private aviation company, you’ll also have perks like jet concierge services.

Avoid Newark Airport When Possible

The Wall Street Journal reports that 40 out of 100 most delayed flights in the U.S. depart or arrive at Newark Liberty International Airport. This according to data from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. The two flights that are typically delayed most often at Newark Airport are the 5 PM and 6:25 PM flight Atlanta-bound flight operated by Delta. Even with half an hour extra padding, the 5 PM flight was still 30 minutes late on six out of every 10 trips. One of the problems is the traffic over Washington DC. The overall rate of on-time flights at Newark Airport has decreased in the past few years. Only 76.6% percent of flights arrived on time through May 2011. Even with fewer planes in the air, it’s still not the best situation at Newark.

If you’re going to fly to Newark Liberty International Airport, then why not do it with Sky Limo Air Charter. Guarantee yourself a pleasant flight with tons of luxurious perks and on-time departure as well as arrival by chartering a private jet. If you haven’t worked with a private aviation company before, then prepare to be amazed. Think legroom. Think privacy. Think jet concierge services to help you with your reservations. Flying with a private jet is an experience like no other. Try it today!

President Obama Restores Full Funding to FAA

According to cnn.com, today, President Obama signed the legislation temporarily restoring full funding to the Federal Aviation Administration. This allowed 4,000 federal employees to go back to work and brought back tens of thousands of jobs in the construction industry and other fields tied to the airport improvement projects that were put on the backburner because of the funding shortfall. The bill was passed with unanimous consent which allows two senators to approve a bill as long as there are objections filed. The political issues that made created the funding shortfall are not resolved as of now. Both Democrats and Republicans have different views on whether or not subsidies should be given to smaller rural airports, specifically in Nevada, Montana and New Mexico. Both parties are also debating whether to make it easier for airline employees to unionize. These issues will be discussed in six weeks’ time. This agreement is the 21st short-term funding extension.

Fear of Flying

According to an article on MSN, about 10% to 25% of the population is afraid to fly. Even through traveling by plane is very safe, even safe than driving, many feel flying is unnatural. Psychologists say that phobias develop in the late 20s and these fears of flying are stopping many people from taking part in plenty of milestones and social events such as weddings, reunions, vacations and more. If you're afraid to fly, there are ways to help you cope. For example, skipping the commercial airline route and flying on a private jet might help ease the anxiety. With a private aircraft all to yourself and a jet concierge staff helping you with all the trip-related reservations and organization, you might find the traveling experience less stressful. Also, skipping the waiting around at the airport, can make you more relax and not anticipating the flight. With a private jet flight, the "getting onboard" part is much quicker than with a traditional commercial airline. If flying solo isn't an option, virtual reality training can also help, with classes run by therapists and pilots to expose you to flying without ever leaving the ground. Virgin Atlantic, British Airways and Air France offer classes. Breathing and muscle-relaxation techniques can also help and understanding the mechanics of flying can decrease the fear too. The magical aspect of flying dissipates once you understand how it works.

TSA Employee Arrested

According to CNN, a former Transportation Security Administration employee was charged with two counts of grand theft for allegedly stealing electronics from luggage. A Continental Airlines employee caught someone stealing an iPad from a suitcase in Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. This according to the Broward County Sheriff's Office. This former TSA employee confessed to having stolen about $50,000 worth of computers, GPS devices and other electronics from bags he screened. He took pictures of these items so he can sell them online. He often sold the electronics before his shift ended. He has worked with the TSA since January 2009 but no longer works there. Detectives are trying to locate the victims of his crime, but it is said to be unlikely that they will get their personal belongings back.
If you don't want to deal with theft and other hassles that come with flying commercial and experiences at the airport, contact your private aviation company for your next trip on a private jet. You'll have access to the best staff in the skies, along with VIP concierge services, not to mention all the privacy in the world.

Travelers From Overseas

Your private aviation company brings you more news on traveling. According to CNN online, global travel is thriving...but not in the U.S. To travel internationally these days is much cheaper and faster. India, China and Brazil have seen many international travelers in the last several years. Sky Limo Air Charter has learnt that more than 60 million travelers have flown internationally in the past 10 years, but almost none in the U.S. According to CNN, America has seen zero growth in overseas visitation resulting in a 37% decline sine 2000. The U.S. has so much to offer visitors, from such variety of people and geography, including beaches, mountains, attractions, nightlife, shopping and the list goes on. Until not too log ago, the U.S. was the only developed country without a national travel promotion strategy. Most destinations actively advertise themselves to attract people to spend time and money in their countries. Last year, a bipartisan Congress passed the Travel Promotion Act to create the Corporation for Travel Promotion which is a public-private partnership that will create and execute America's first nationally coordinated marketing program. It's designed to attract more international visitors. It will provide them with useful information and promote that America wants and welcomes world travelers.

Banning Infants From Flights

Malaysia Airlines is deciding to ban infants from their first class section on its 747-400 jets and new A380 Airbus super-jumbo jets, after hearing passengers complain about not being able to sleep because of babies crying. Travelers with babies flying from Kuala Lumpur to Amsterdam, London and Sydney will have to purchase tickets in business or economy class. That area will be the only one equipped with bassinets. Back in February, several commercial airlines including British Airways and Virgin Atlantic were considering to create children-free flights as well.

If you have babies or young children and still want to fly in luxury and comfort, fly with on a private jet with Sky Limo Air Charter. You won't have to deal with any of the dreaded experiences typically found at the airport and will have the entire cabin for you and your kids. Also, Sky Limo's jet concierge service will help you with any reservations from accommodations to car rentals. Sky Limo's fleet of private jets are regularly inspected and maintained so you have nothing to worry, about. Flying on a private aircraft is truly the best way to fly, for you and your entire family.

Traveling With Kids

Summer is here so plenty of parents and children are taking advantage of the free time to go on vacation. Flying with children is certainly not easy, especially the younger ones who come equipped with a host of questions: Mommy why doesn't the airplane window open? Daddy are we there yet? Mommy can i go to the bathroom again? Taking a flight with kids can be really hard, they're typically bored and impatient during all the airport procedures. It gets a little easier when children are a little older and can do certain things for themselves like eat or keep busy during the flight with coloring and other activities. To make it easier on yourself, make sure to stuff a few of their favorite things in your carry on. Try a stuffed animal, a video game, coloring book, even a story book so you can read to them mid-flight. Try to make it a little more fun in the airport, by treating them to pizza or french fries. Navigating the hassle of the airport can be a little easier if you have your stroller with you. If you have babies traveling with you, don't forget the diapers wet wipes and bottles in your carry-on. To make the journey even more pleasant, skip the commercial airlines and opt for traveling by private jet. Your children will have the entire plane cabin to move about, you'll have the flexibility of traveling when you want and get help with concierge services when it comes to reserving hotel rooms and car rentals. Choose an experienced and professional private aviation company like Sky Limo Air Charter. Your trip will be a wonderful success!

No Fighting On Sky Limo Guaranteed

Recently, the Washington Post reported that a flight attendant and a passenger aboard a United Airlines flight jumped between two men that were fighting on the plane. The fistfight broke out after one of the passengers reclined his seat and got his head slapped by the guy sitting behind him. Instead of continuing the flight, the captain decided to circle the plane around in the air for about 25 minutes to burn enough fuel to land within the weight limits of the aircraft. The United Airlines 5,000 miles flight ended up being canceled until the next day with 144 passengers that were very unhappy. This is just another example of how commercial flights are squeezing travelers and becoming more of an annoyance in the world of travel.

Bypass all of the hassles that flying commercial can entail. Forget the long lines at the airport, forget cranky passengers, forget bad customer service at the ticket counter and fly on a private jet. Flying with a private aviation company like Sky Limo Air Charter guarantees you all the luxury and comforts in the friendly skies including plenty of legroom, jet concierge services and all of the reclining you can handle.

Art in Airports

In this blog posting, Sky Limo Air Charter, your private aviation company of choice, is shining the spotlight on several airports in the U.S. that proudly display art on its walls, concourses and terminals. Not too far from our private jet headquarters in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the Miami International Airport’s south terminal concourse J has been outfitted with about $9.4 million worth of art. The highlights include pieces by Brad Goldberg, Norie Sato and Barbara Neijna. The Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport’s terminal 4 has a ceramics collection right in front of the US Airways counters. Atlanta’s concourse E at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport has quilts hanging. The Pittsburg International Airport has an original Alexander Calder mobile and major pieces from the famous pop artist Andy Warhol.

When you don’t have the luxury to fly on a private jet and find yourself in one of those airports’ terminals, take the time to at least enjoy the art before you board a commercial flight

Pat-Downs at the Airport

Airports aren’t fun. They’re full of passengers running around trying to make it to their next connecting flight, crying babies, rules and regulations at every corner and dreaded lines filled with cranky travelers. What’s even less fun than all of that is the security pat-down. The TSA says that the most important thing you can due to reduce the need for a pat-down is to empty out your pockets before you actually go through the screening. Also, don’t wear clothes with high metal content and heavy jewelry.

To escape the pat-down altogether, opt to fly with a private air charter. Not only will you not be subjected to that type of uncomfortable experience, you’ll also actually enjoy your very limited time at the airport. Private jet companies like Sky Limo Air Charter also offer jet concierge services for an even more luxurious traveling experience in the skies and on land. Think gourmet food onboard, someone to make all your reservations for you and a staff that’s only concerned with making your wishes come true. Flying with a private aviation company really is the best way to fly!

What To Do If You’re Bumped From a Flight

According to CNN online, last year airlines bumped 681,105 passengers from flights in the U.S. If you volunteer to give up your seat on a flight that’s overbooked, you can expect to be rebooked on the next flight and even get a free flight pass to use on another trip. But if you were bumped against your will, you’re at the mercy of the commercial airline’s schedule. This can take a while, especially because these days most commercial flights are flying at full capacity. You need to know your rights about being bumped involuntarily. If you’re placed on another flight within one hour, you will get no compensation. But if it takes up to two hours to get on another domestic flight (or four hours on an international flight), the airline must pay you double the value of your one-way fare, up to the maximum of $650. If you’re stranded in an airport for more than two hours, expect to be reimbursed four times the value of your one-way ticket, up to $1,300.

With private jet charters like Sky Limo’s, there is no overbooking and no passengers are bumped. You’ll have no problem getting where you’re headed, on schedule. In fact, on your schedule. You decide your flight time, you decide your flight route. Plus, with jet concierge services helping you with your reservations, it’s really the best way to fly.

Airline Hassles and How To Avoid Them

Layovers are a risk and huge hassle when you fly with a commercial airline instead of a private jet. Layovers can be due to multiple reasons and without much warning. According to a travel article on CNN.com, if you find out early enough you can call the airline and get on the next nonstop flight at no additional cost. If there are no nonstop flights, the travel article suggests you ask for a refund. You should also know that layovers could happen more frequently at the end of the month because of flight crews reaching their cap on the number of hours they’re allowed to work. So by adding a layover, a commercial airline can get a new crew to work and fly. To try to avoid that, fly earlier in the month.
To avoid layovers all together, charter a private aircraft for your very own private flight. You’ll set up your trip according to your schedule and decide when you want to fly. You won’t have to deal with cancellations either and will experience the very best way to travel. Sky Limo Air Charter also provides concierge services that can help you with reservations and other traveling needs. Why fly commercial when you can fly the private aviation way?

Fewer Airport Hubs in Smaller Cities

In the last few years, commercial airlines have been reducing airport hubs in small to midsize cities. More recently, Delta has just decreased 25% of its flights in Memphis, Tennessee. CNN reports that the Pittsburg airport use to be one of the most important hubs for US Airways, having nonstop flights to Europe and hundreds of daily flights nationwide. Today it’s to 165 flights a day to 37 airports in total. San Jose, California, Las Vegas, St. Louis, Columbus, Ohio, Nashville, Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina and Baltimore have all had airport hubs closed in the past 20 years. Flight service to Columbus, Mississippi, Lexington, Kentucky, Lafayette, Louisiana and Moline, Illinois is now reduced to one or two flights a day.
If you live in a small city and would like to fly nonstop without going out of your way to a further airport, contact Sky Limo Air Charter for a private jet flight from wherever you are to wherever you are going. Flying on a private aircraft has unlimited perks and luxury comes standard.

Busy Summer Traveling Season

According to CNN, the summer 2011 season is going to be very busy. Sure, it’s expected with kids out of school and families taking their vacations. According to The Air Transport Association of America, U.S. airlines are expected to carry over 206 million passengers between the months of June through August. That figure is a 1.5% increase compared to last year during that same time, which means 34,000 more flyers per day compared to 2010.
More passengers traveling by air translates to even more crowded airports. More lines to wait in, more screaming children and less privacy. That’s why flying on a private jet this summer might be a better idea than to deal with commercial airlines. You won’t be stuck with the regular routes and schedules that are offered through domestic flights neither the hassles of the airport and everything else traveling involves the days. A company like Sky Limo Air Charter can really make your traveling comfortable and luxurious. On a private aircraft you can expect luxury at every corner, with plenty of space, privacy and a jet concierge staff ready to help you with all of your reservations including hotel rooms and car rentals.

Travelers from abroad are visiting the U.S. with plenty of cash at hand. According to Gadling.com, they spent $11.6 billion on travel and tourism-related activities. That’s more than $970 million compared to last year in 2010. The U.S. Department of Commerce is saying that for 14 months in a row, foreign visitor spending has increased. In February alone, there was $2.7 billion spent on travel, 15% higher than the year before. Americans have spent $17.4 billion outside of the U.S.
If you’d like to join all these visitors and travel in the U.S., just pick your favorite location and let Sky Limo Air Charter fly you on a private jet. You’ll enjoy the journey as much as the destination, that’s for sure. Think privacy, space, luxury and of course the flexibility to fly whenever you want. Sky Limo also offers jet concierge services in flight and on land, from helping you reserve your hotel room or car rental to offering your gourmet food on board your private aircraft.

FAA Proposes New Pilot Training

According to CNN.com, under new proposed rules from the Federal Aviation Association, airline pilots and flight attendants would have to learn to respond to real world situations and demonstrate those skills in flight simulators and emergency drills. The FAA says these would be the most significant changes in crew training in the last 20 years. In the past, pilots only had to learn how to recognize and recover from problems, under this new proposed rule, they would have to demonstrate their skills. The FAA says this addresses issues brought up by Congress and over 25 recommendations suggested by the National Transportation Board. The goals of these new rules are meant to produce qualified crews and decrease aviation accidents. CNN says a public comment period on the rule closes on July 19, so that the FAA can spend time after that addressing the comments before making the rules official. The FAA is also working on addressing pilot fatigue, regulating flight time and rest periods as well as a rule setting minimum pilot qualifications.
In the meantime, for a safe flight, charter a private jet with Sky Limo Air Charter. You’ll enjoy plenty of privacy on board, flexibility in regards to date and time, as well as plenty of luxurious perks such as a jet concierge service.

How Old is Too Old For a Plane

A well-maintained aircraft can fly passengers for decades. According to MSN, the average age for US airline jets is 11 years. Older airplanes need not only more repairs, but also costlier ones. That’s why it’s sometimes more cost-efficient to add a new plane to the aircraft fleet rather then continuously repair the older ones. Older aircrafts also require more frequent inspections. Newer jets offer more fuel savings not to mention all the updated features in the cabins like personal televisions for each passenger. Almost one out of four airplanes of US airlines flying today is more than 15 years old. The Federal Aviation Administration doesn’t set a mandatory retirement age for aircrafts.
Charter a private jet with Sky Limo Air Charter and you won’t have to worry about the age of your private jet. All our private aircrafts are well-maintained, repaired and safe. We continuously add new private jets to our collection of aircraft fleets including Gulfstreams. Flying with Sky Limo is a real pleasure, with exclusive jet concierge services both in the air and on the ground, you can’t go wrong. You can set your own flying schedule so you don’t have to worry about connecting flights or delays. Call Sky Limo Air Charter today to reserve your private flight!

New DOT Rules

Just recently, the Department of Transportation announced new airlines regulations that are meant to benefit travelers. Airlines will soon have to refund bags if they lose them as well as pay more for bumping travelers from a flight. Presently the compensation for travelers that are bumped is up to $400 or $800 depending on how long the passenger is bumped off. Those numbers will increase to $650 and $1,330. If bags are delivered late, there will be no refund in place.
Airlines will also have to include fees and taxes in their advertised prices. Those possible fees can include checking bags, changing reservations, upgrading seats.
And last year’s rule about tarmac delay is affecting international flights now, not only domestic. Now, DOT is stopping passengers from being stranded for 4 hours on international flights for longer than four hours. If passengers are stuck for more than two hours on an international flight, the airline is required to provide food and water.
However all those changes will still not make flying commercial as comfortable as flying on a private aircraft. For less headache and less nonsense, fly with Sky Limo Air Charter. We’ll provide you with a private jet along with exclusive jet concierge services thousands of feet in the air and on the ground. You’re guaranteed tons of privacy, flexibility, comfort and of course, luxury.

Meanest Airline?

2010 was a great year for the airline industry, with U.S.airlines recording the highest profits in more than 10 years. Every airline except for American Airlines had positive profits for that year. However, because of increasing baggage fees, airfare increase, elimination of free food and other factors, customers weren’t happy. According to a Business Insider study, four major U.S. carriers made their way onto the 18 worst companies in America. The meanest major carrier was United. It had the second highest customer complaint rate of all airlines in 2010. The meanest regional carrier was American Eagle. The major contributing factors for the title was that they had the most incidents of mishandled baggage and the highest involuntary denied boarding rate in 2010. The most complained about airline was Delta. Off all the 2011 Airline Quality Rating report, it had the highest complaint rate. JetBlue won the most likely to be unsafe title, with 17 documented incidents out of 219,000 flights in 2010. Finally Delta, US Airways and Continental were all dubbed most likely to overcharge for bags.
For a great flying experience, with the kindest most helpful service, forget flying on commercial airlines. Try chartering a private jet with Sky Limo Air Charter. You won’t encounter any of the problems and hassles you might have to deal with when you fly on US carriers.

Why Fly Commercial?

Travelling doesn't have to be a hassle. A few years back, not everybody was able to afford to fly. Today, most people can afford a ticket to almost anywhere they wish. Because of this, commercial flying has become very crowded and uncomfortable. If you have the means, flying with a private jet is wonderful. You can use a private aircraft for personal use as well as for business. The best thing about flying on a private jet is the comfort you get. You have lots of space and and privacy. Of course, the price of flying private is more expensive than flying commercial, the perks that you get are well worth it though. Once you've flown on a private jet, it's difficult to go back to commercial. If money is no object, why go through all the multiple security screenings, the long line and all the other headaches that comes with flying commercial? If you can afford it, then skip those lines and fly with a private aircraft, you won't regret it for a second. Choose Sky Limo Air Charter the next time you fly. Our jet concierge services are great! Reasons to Check Out NYC in 2011

This year is a great time to visit the Big Apple and there’s no better way to fly to NYC than with Sky Limo’s Private Air Charter. The private jet flight will make our journey spectacular right from the start. New attractions are opening in 2011, making the “the city that never sleeps” even better. For one, the first phase of the $700 million National September 11 Memorial and Museum will open in the next few months exhibiting a look at the events that happened that day with artifacts and more. The Museum of the Moving Image is already open, since January of this year, offering memorabilia and interactive exhibits on film and TV. Visitors can dub their voice in a famous movie scene and learn to edit it. The Spider Man musical is set to start on Broadway as well. The Highline is another attraction worth experiencing in New York. It’s a city park on elevated rail tracks about 20 feet above the sidewalk. It’s truly a “different” way to visit the city. The Metropolitain Museum of Art also joins in on the action, displaying 18th century artifacts from Beijing’s Forbidden City through May. See you in NYC!

Traveling Pet Peeves

Traveling isn’t always fun, especially when you’re not flying with a private air charter. Being cooped up like a sardine on a commercial airline flight is not something that passengers look forward too, no matter where they land in the next several hours. And the flight is even worst when travelers have to share their space with their beloved pets. Another pet peeve is the airport screenings and groping at a particular checkpoint before passengers get to their gate and wait and wait at the terminal. What about your snacks? Commercial airlines don’t distribute snacks on flights anymore. No, travelers have a limited choice of three that they have to buy for themselves. Other passengers onboard the flight can also make the journey harder. Screaming babies, arguing couples, coughing individuals and the rest of the typical cast can really make the hours in flight brutal. To escape all these dreaded traveling pet peeves, book your next trip with Sky Limo Air Charter. You’ll have an entire private jet to yourself with plenty of space to stretch those legs and enjoy the journey in the air. Business or pleasure, flying on a private aircraft sure beats going commercial.

Aviation in the News

Just recently, according to cnn.com, the Federal Aviation Administration issued an emergency Airworthiness Directive mandating operators of at least 80 older Boeing 737s to perform inspections for wear and tear. This just days after Southwest Airline’s 737 made an emergency landing because of the hole in its fuselage. The planes have to be inspected every 500 cycles, in other words, every take-off and landing. This mandate affects about 80 U.S. registered planes and another 95 outside of the U.S. In light of this recent news, Sky Limo wants to reassure all of its passengers that we operate a outstanding fleet of private aircrafts with the highest standards of safety, quality and service. All Sky Limo Air Charter flight operations are performed in strict accordance with FAR Part 135 regulations, the most stringent Federal Aviation Administration classification for private aviation. In addition to those regulations, our operators and aircrafts are required to meet additional safety and reliability standards established by Sky Limo. Aircraft age, pilot training, maintenance history and safety are among the criteria that’s continuously reviewed. Rest assured, on a Sky Limo private aircraft you’re safe.

AirTran Might Be Great, But There’s Nothing like Sky Limo

According to CNN, discount AirTran Airways ranked first overall 16 large U.S. carriers this past year. It improved in three of the four categories in the Airline Quality Ranking, an annual study based on analysis of Department of Transportation. AirTran got better with on-time performance, rate of consumer complaints and mishandled bags. However, consumer complaints rose from .97 per 100,000 passengers in 2009 to 1.22 in 2010. AirTran still managed to bump 2009’s top airline, Hawaiian, which in 2010 ranked number 2, followed by Jet Blue and Southwest. AirTran might be great when it comes to commercial airlines, but it can’t compare to Sky Limo Air Charter and its private jets flights. When you charter a private aircraft, you can expect all the luxuries to come standard. That means a spacious airplane cabin, plenty of privacy, a flexible schedule, no lines at the airport, no surcharges or surprise fees, just unparalleled service with an exclusive concierge staff to help you with your every need. When you’ve had enough of flying commercial, come on over to the other side of flying private. You’ll be glad you did.

American Airlines and Expedia

Just recently American Airlines patched things ups with Expedia, allowing traveling customers to purchase American Airlines flights on the popular travel website. Fares and schedules are once again displayed and the distribution dispute both companies had back in December is fixed. At the time AA wanted their own connect link. As a result of this conflict, AA also severed its relationship with Orbitz, another travel website. According to cnn.com, Expedia’s stock went up nearly 4% on the news. Squali estimates that AA flight bookings will contribute to 5 to 70% to Expedia’s annual earnings per share. If you don’t want to be caught in the drama or deal with online flight bookings, why not choose to charter a flight on a private jet. You’ll get on-on-one personal service when you call Sky Limo Air Charter representatives, exclusive jet concierge services during and even after your flight, not to mention no hassles at the airport. Sky Limo’s private jets are outfitted with the best of technological accessories on board, a professional staff on board and gourmet food to make your flight even more pleasant. Forget flying commercial, fly the private aircraft way. There’s nothing like it!

Snacks When Traveling

Let's face it, airlines don't offer the best food. Buying your own snacks is a great idea. There are many snacks that are great for a flight. Here are a couple of suggestions you may want to consider the next time you have to fly commercial:
Candy: It's great, easy to transport and holds you over for a long time.
Trail Mix or Dried Fruit: A healthy snack and very satisfying! Yes, they might offer a small bag of trail mix on your flight but it's nowhere close to enough. Buy your own.
Crackers: Not only are they good but for those that get air sick, they can help.
Bagels: Many airports have bakeries and buying a bag of bagels is easy to carry and very tasty.
Water: Airlines give you a tiny bottle, instead buy your own bottle of water, you'll be very happy you did.
Instead of flying commercial, experience the best in air travel by booking a private jet flight. With Sky Limo Air Charter there's no multiple security screenings, no hidden fees or surcharge just a comfortable, restful flight full of perks like legroom, a spacious stylish cabin, gourmet food on board and more. Sky Limo Featured in Airplanista Magazine, March 2011

Sky Limo is featured in the new article “Charters, Fractionals, and Jet Cards” published by Airplanista magazine as a preferred full service aviation company. The article takes a look through the past decade, examines trends in the private aviation industry, and learns how companies within this sector have maneuvered the ups and downs of the economy.

Some highlights: Sky Limo President and CEO Tom Conlan shared insight on the “high point” of the private aviation market and the demand for chartered planes. Damian Lopez, Vice President of Business Development, added that the end of 2010 seems to be the lowest point in the industry.

However, the article in Airplanista isn’t harping on the past—it’s gearing up for the future. Sky Limo is optimistic for what 2011 holds and has survived the economy’s darkest days yet. Currently, Sky Limo is staying busy and their aviation supply is in harmony with the population’s demand for chartered planes. Sky Limo's portion of the article can be read below (click the images to enlarge), and the full article is available here, beginning on page 22 within the newest issue of Airplanista.

The Boca Raton Concours d’Elegance Featuring Sky Limo

This past weekend, February 25-27, 2011, Sky Limo was a proud participant at the 5th Annual Boca Raton Concours d’Elegance. The event was held at the Boca Raton Resort & Club and is a fund raising effort for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County. In addition to the 3-day luxury affair’s annual events, this year’s Concours d’Elegance also honored the 100th Anniversary of the Indianapolis 500. Jay Leno was this year’s host, and the weekend was successful in raising $3 million for charity.

The Concours d’Elegance kicked off Friday evening at the Boca Raton Airport, with a Hangar party hosted by the DuPont Registry. Sky Limo was represented at the show via their nicest jet, a Gulfstream G200 N35BP. In addition to aircraft, Indy cars, exotic cars, luxury boats, and custom motorcycles were among some of the other features at the DuPont Registry Live. Wine tastings, cocktails, and live entertainment rounded out the first evening of the philanthropic weekend event.

Saturday evening was a gala dinner and auction at the Boca Raton Resort & Club. The auction contained brand new luxury automobiles yet to be seen by the public, available for purchase by the event’s guests. Also, in honor of the Indianapolis 500’s Anniversary, vintage Indy racing cars were also auctioned. Jay Leno hosted the evening, following in the footsteps of past hosts Bill Cosby, Howie Mandel, and Dennis Miller.

The pinnacle of the Concours d’Elegance came Sunday with the collector’s show consisting of over 200 classic automobiles & motorcycles. Automobile aficionado Jay Leno was on hand to present the finest automobile with The Jay Leno Big Dog Garage Award. Car lovers from all over gathered at the Boca Raton Resort & Club to celebrate the heritage and the history of the automobile.

Sky Limo has singularly raised over $35,000 for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County, and is enthusiastically involved in the well being of the area’s youth. As Sky Limo owner Tom Conlan explains, “to enhance the lives of our young people and to be a part of helping them reach their full potential, we continue to do as much as we can with the Boys and Girls Clubs—that’s what this is all about.”
