Fewer Airport Hubs in Smaller Cities

In the last few years, commercial airlines have been reducing airport hubs in small to midsize cities. More recently, Delta has just decreased 25% of its flights in Memphis, Tennessee. CNN reports that the Pittsburg airport use to be one of the most important hubs for US Airways, having nonstop flights to Europe and hundreds of daily flights nationwide. Today it’s to 165 flights a day to 37 airports in total. San Jose, California, Las Vegas, St. Louis, Columbus, Ohio, Nashville, Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina and Baltimore have all had airport hubs closed in the past 20 years. Flight service to Columbus, Mississippi, Lexington, Kentucky, Lafayette, Louisiana and Moline, Illinois is now reduced to one or two flights a day.
If you live in a small city and would like to fly nonstop without going out of your way to a further airport, contact Sky Limo Air Charter for a private jet flight from wherever you are to wherever you are going. Flying on a private aircraft has unlimited perks and luxury comes standard.

Busy Summer Traveling Season

According to CNN, the summer 2011 season is going to be very busy. Sure, it’s expected with kids out of school and families taking their vacations. According to The Air Transport Association of America, U.S. airlines are expected to carry over 206 million passengers between the months of June through August. That figure is a 1.5% increase compared to last year during that same time, which means 34,000 more flyers per day compared to 2010.
More passengers traveling by air translates to even more crowded airports. More lines to wait in, more screaming children and less privacy. That’s why flying on a private jet this summer might be a better idea than to deal with commercial airlines. You won’t be stuck with the regular routes and schedules that are offered through domestic flights neither the hassles of the airport and everything else traveling involves the days. A company like Sky Limo Air Charter can really make your traveling comfortable and luxurious. On a private aircraft you can expect luxury at every corner, with plenty of space, privacy and a jet concierge staff ready to help you with all of your reservations including hotel rooms and car rentals.

FAA Proposes New Pilot Training

According to CNN.com, under new proposed rules from the Federal Aviation Association, airline pilots and flight attendants would have to learn to respond to real world situations and demonstrate those skills in flight simulators and emergency drills. The FAA says these would be the most significant changes in crew training in the last 20 years. In the past, pilots only had to learn how to recognize and recover from problems, under this new proposed rule, they would have to demonstrate their skills. The FAA says this addresses issues brought up by Congress and over 25 recommendations suggested by the National Transportation Board. The goals of these new rules are meant to produce qualified crews and decrease aviation accidents. CNN says a public comment period on the rule closes on July 19, so that the FAA can spend time after that addressing the comments before making the rules official. The FAA is also working on addressing pilot fatigue, regulating flight time and rest periods as well as a rule setting minimum pilot qualifications.
In the meantime, for a safe flight, charter a private jet with Sky Limo Air Charter. You’ll enjoy plenty of privacy on board, flexibility in regards to date and time, as well as plenty of luxurious perks such as a jet concierge service.

How Old is Too Old For a Plane

A well-maintained aircraft can fly passengers for decades. According to MSN, the average age for US airline jets is 11 years. Older airplanes need not only more repairs, but also costlier ones. That’s why it’s sometimes more cost-efficient to add a new plane to the aircraft fleet rather then continuously repair the older ones. Older aircrafts also require more frequent inspections. Newer jets offer more fuel savings not to mention all the updated features in the cabins like personal televisions for each passenger. Almost one out of four airplanes of US airlines flying today is more than 15 years old. The Federal Aviation Administration doesn’t set a mandatory retirement age for aircrafts.
Charter a private jet with Sky Limo Air Charter and you won’t have to worry about the age of your private jet. All our private aircrafts are well-maintained, repaired and safe. We continuously add new private jets to our collection of aircraft fleets including Gulfstreams. Flying with Sky Limo is a real pleasure, with exclusive jet concierge services both in the air and on the ground, you can’t go wrong. You can set your own flying schedule so you don’t have to worry about connecting flights or delays. Call Sky Limo Air Charter today to reserve your private flight!

New DOT Rules

Just recently, the Department of Transportation announced new airlines regulations that are meant to benefit travelers. Airlines will soon have to refund bags if they lose them as well as pay more for bumping travelers from a flight. Presently the compensation for travelers that are bumped is up to $400 or $800 depending on how long the passenger is bumped off. Those numbers will increase to $650 and $1,330. If bags are delivered late, there will be no refund in place.
Airlines will also have to include fees and taxes in their advertised prices. Those possible fees can include checking bags, changing reservations, upgrading seats.
And last year’s rule about tarmac delay is affecting international flights now, not only domestic. Now, DOT is stopping passengers from being stranded for 4 hours on international flights for longer than four hours. If passengers are stuck for more than two hours on an international flight, the airline is required to provide food and water.
However all those changes will still not make flying commercial as comfortable as flying on a private aircraft. For less headache and less nonsense, fly with Sky Limo Air Charter. We’ll provide you with a private jet along with exclusive jet concierge services thousands of feet in the air and on the ground. You’re guaranteed tons of privacy, flexibility, comfort and of course, luxury.
