New Airport Screening Procedures for Children

There’s been a lot of talk lately regarding the screening procedures for traveling children. Many parents are outraged and unhappy with the way their kids are treated at airports. So the TSA is now rolling out new procedures to reduce the number of pat downs at airport checkpoints. The new rules say that children under 12 years old will be allowed to keep their shoes on. According to CNN, if a metal detector or full-body mage detects a suspicious object, kids are allowed to pass through multiple times in order to identify the problem. The TSA will also have the choice of swabbing children’s hands for explosive residue versus patting them down. Pat downs will be used if the problem or concern persists. There are also pilot programs aiming at reducing the number of pat downs for children that are underway at various airports including Boston Logan International, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International, Miami International, Orlando International, Houston International and Denver International.

If you rather not deal with the procedures and the dreaded airport experience altogether, book a private air charter for you and your children through Sky Limo. Expensive Airports, Expensive Fares

For those of you that are scaling back on some of the private jet usage, and flying with commercial airlines instead, note that depending on your departure airport, your airfare can be more expensive. Take for example a flight to Texas. Is you’re flying into Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport, you’ll probable pay the most expensive average domestic airfare in the U.S. which is about $477. If you were to take your flight from 29 miles away at Hobby Airport, you will pay the lowest average airfare in the country for about $299. That’s quite a difference. The average airfare have continuously increased for the past three years at Houston’s Bush Intercontinental and it’s not the only airport that’s expensive to fly out from.

MSN reports a list of the top 10:
Houston Bush in Texas, Huntsville in Alabama, Newark-Liberty in New Jersey, Cincinnati in Ohio, Washington Dulles, Charleston in South Carolina, Memphis and Knoxville Tennessee, Dallas Fort-Worth in Texas and Madison, Wisconsin.
So if you’re not flying on a private aircraft due to budget cuts, make sure you’re really saving money by avoiding these most expensive airports when you can.

What You Need to Know About Hotel Ratings

Hotel ratings differ in different countries. What consists of a five-star hotel rating here in the U.S. is not the same in Italy for example. In America, the most trustworthy sources of hotel ratings are Forbes and AAA. With Forbes, hotels have to meet specific criteria such as greeting guests curbside within a minute and offering tasting samples to guests who order wine by the glass in order to get the highest rating. In Italy, all it takes is a 24-hour reception desk, receptionists that speak three languages and double rooms to get a five-star hotel rating.

Before you book a hotel room, verify where their rating comes from and take that into consideration before you call the accommodation your home away from home. Is the source a privately-owned company? Is it a hotel booking site like Orbitz or Priceline that have their own rating system that are not even published on their sites? Is it from user-generated sites that rely on feedback and reviews. Is it based on the government-run ratings system which is mostly for European hotels with sometimes ratings based on features like air conditioning versus quality.

Once you find your five-star dream hotel room, call Sky Limo Air Charter for your own private jet flight to your dream destination. Expect luxury, comfort and privacy aboard a spacious private aircraft with a jet concierge staff to make your journey unbelievable.

Boarding an Aircraft

Commercial airlines are always looking to find the fastest way for passengers that are flying aboard their planes to actually board. The faster, the more money airlines can make, saving up to $30 per flight for every minute that’s cut from the boarding process. There are plenty of ways passengers can load a plane on record. There’s the method that suggests people board by alternating rows, starting from the back of the aircraft which is actually said to be the fastest. There’s the more familiar way which is actually the slowest way, involving passengers to board in descending groups of rows. There’s the randomized way that commercial airlines like American Airlines is trying. This involves coach passengers boarding in the order they checked in no matter where their seat is.
