Travel Tips For Thanksgiving

If you’re planning to travel for the Thanksgiving holiday, you are not alone. In fact you are joining about 23 million people in the friendly skies. If you’re not booking a private air charter with a company like Sky Limo, you’ll need to know how to handle the chaos at airports all across the U.S. during that time. Try not to travel on that Wednesday before Thanksgiving which is November 23rd and avoid that Sunday after the holiday as well. These days will be extremely busy with air travel, with long lines at the airports and full flights, so choose your seat wisely. If you’re looking for the cheapest airfare, try flying on November 24th which is Thanksgiving Day and return on that following Saturday. Try to avoid connections in Atlanta’s International airport because this busiest U.S. airport will be even more chaotic during this holiday season. Chicago’s O’hare will also be busy with Los Angeles International Airport taking third place.

If you’re having second thoughts about facing the dreaded journey at the airport, consider flying on a private aircraft. You won’t wait in any line, have all the privacy in the world as well as legroom and a comfortable flight. Sky Limo also offers exclusive jet concierge services should you need to reserve hotel rooms or a car rental during your trip. Call Sky Limo to find out how you can book your very own private air charter.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Four Airports Try New Screenings

Sky Limo Air Charter, your private aviation company, has learnt that as of yesterday, four airports are trying out a new pilot program called the “PreCheck” program. It covers Delta Air Lines’ frequent-flier travelers and three other government-trusted programs including Global Entry, Nexus and Sentri. This will affect people flying regularly out of Hartsfiled-Jackson Atlanta International airport and Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County airport. American Airlines is also involved as well as a select group flying out of Miami International airport and Dallas-Fort Worth international airport. The TSA says this new program will impact between 5,000 and 8,000 passengers every day. These travelers will have to give the government more personal information so they can move faster through security checks at the airports.

If you don’t want to go through the dreaded security lines or waiting at the terminal for a long time, try chartering a private jet with Sky Limo. You’ll have access to a private jet all to yourself not to mention the very best in luxurious perks: exclusive private jet concierge services. New Airport Screening Procedures for Children

There’s been a lot of talk lately regarding the screening procedures for traveling children. Many parents are outraged and unhappy with the way their kids are treated at airports. So the TSA is now rolling out new procedures to reduce the number of pat downs at airport checkpoints. The new rules say that children under 12 years old will be allowed to keep their shoes on. According to CNN, if a metal detector or full-body mage detects a suspicious object, kids are allowed to pass through multiple times in order to identify the problem. The TSA will also have the choice of swabbing children’s hands for explosive residue versus patting them down. Pat downs will be used if the problem or concern persists. There are also pilot programs aiming at reducing the number of pat downs for children that are underway at various airports including Boston Logan International, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International, Miami International, Orlando International, Houston International and Denver International.

If you rather not deal with the procedures and the dreaded airport experience altogether, book a private air charter for you and your children through Sky Limo. Flying on a private jet is like no other experience in the friendly skies. Think luxury, privacy and plenty of legroom. Sky Limo Air Charter also provides exclusive jet concierge services to help you with reserving hotel rooms and a car rental for a more convenient experience.

How Old is Too Old For a Plane

A well-maintained aircraft can fly passengers for decades. According to MSN, the average age for US airline jets is 11 years. Older airplanes need not only more repairs, but also costlier ones. That’s why it’s sometimes more cost-efficient to add a new plane to the aircraft fleet rather then continuously repair the older ones. Older aircrafts also require more frequent inspections. Newer jets offer more fuel savings not to mention all the updated features in the cabins like personal televisions for each passenger. Almost one out of four airplanes of US airlines flying today is more than 15 years old. The Federal Aviation Administration doesn’t set a mandatory retirement age for aircrafts.
Charter a private jet with Sky Limo Air Charter and you won’t have to worry about the age of your private jet. All our private aircrafts are well-maintained, repaired and safe. We continuously add new private jets to our collection of aircraft fleets including Gulfstreams. Flying with Sky Limo is a real pleasure, with exclusive jet concierge services both in the air and on the ground, you can’t go wrong. You can set your own flying schedule so you don’t have to worry about connecting flights or delays. Call Sky Limo Air Charter today to reserve your private flight!

The Boca Raton Concours d’Elegance Featuring Sky Limo

This past weekend, February 25-27, 2011, Sky Limo was a proud participant at the 5th Annual Boca Raton Concours d’Elegance. The event was held at the Boca Raton Resort & Club and is a fund raising effort for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County. In addition to the 3-day luxury affair’s annual events, this year’s Concours d’Elegance also honored the 100th Anniversary of the Indianapolis 500. Jay Leno was this year’s host, and the weekend was successful in raising $3 million for charity.

The Concours d’Elegance kicked off Friday evening at the Boca Raton Airport, with a Hangar party hosted by the DuPont Registry. Sky Limo was represented at the show via their nicest jet, a Gulfstream G200 N35BP. In addition to aircraft, Indy cars, exotic cars, luxury boats, and custom motorcycles were among some of the other features at the DuPont Registry Live. Wine tastings, cocktails, and live entertainment rounded out the first evening of the philanthropic weekend event.

Saturday evening was a gala dinner and auction at the Boca Raton Resort & Club. The auction contained brand new luxury automobiles yet to be seen by the public, available for purchase by the event’s guests. Also, in honor of the Indianapolis 500’s Anniversary, vintage Indy racing cars were also auctioned. Jay Leno hosted the evening, following in the footsteps of past hosts Bill Cosby, Howie Mandel, and Dennis Miller.

The pinnacle of the Concours d’Elegance came Sunday with the collector’s show consisting of over 200 classic automobiles & motorcycles. Automobile aficionado Jay Leno was on hand to present the finest automobile with The Jay Leno Big Dog Garage Award. Car lovers from all over gathered at the Boca Raton Resort & Club to celebrate the heritage and the history of the automobile.

Sky Limo has singularly raised over $35,000 for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Broward County, and is enthusiastically involved in the well being of the area’s youth. As Sky Limo owner Tom Conlan explains, “to enhance the lives of our young people and to be a part of helping them reach their full potential, we continue to do as much as we can with the Boys and Girls Clubs—that’s what this is all about.”

Flying High in the Recession: Sky Limo Air Charter Soars Above the Rest

Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. – While the economic downtown has affected all industries as a whole, Sky Limo, a full service aviation company, is experiencing a steady increase of charter sales across the board.

Traffic to charter and sales Web sites, as well as call volume, has also steadily increased since the end of the first quarter in 2010. Although it may be too early to characterize this as a positive trend, Tom Conlan, President and CEO of Sky Limo believes that it appears the market is at the beginning stages of an upward swing.

“We’ve already been experiencing an increased demand for charter,” he said. “So much so, that our company is reaching out to owners of aircraft looking to offset their ownership costs with charter because our current fleet is operating at capacity.”

With financial institutions severely tightening lending policies, coupled with a large volume of foreclosures and inventory levels rising to upwards of 18 percent of total aircraft use, the air charter market declined to almost a standstill in 2008. The economic downtown may have actually benefited charter operators, such as Sky Limo, that “weathered the storm” by reducing competition. This allows the aircraft management, charter and maintenance companies who survived to be all the more viable in a growing marketplace.

For Sky Limo, private travel air isn’t just about time savings versus expense. It’s about the value of how time is spent. “We want the first time you fly with us to be the last time you fly with anyone else,” said Conlan. “Sky Limo is more than just getting you to your destination, it’s an experience.”

your destination, it’s an erience.

Sky Limo on National Business Aviation Association for Toys for Tots Campaign

NBAA reported this week that Sky Limo collected over $5,000 in Toys for Tots donations for needy children in South Florida and “flew” the toys on Saturday, December 10 and Sunday, December 11 in a Sabre 60 business jet. High-speed cruise for both flights was estimated at two to three knots.

“We ‘flew’ the airplane in two big holiday water parades here in South Florida,” said Damian Lopez, Sky Limo Director of Business Development. “Our Sabre 60 jet was mounted on a barge on the Intracoastal Waterway for participation in both the Seminole Hardrock Winterfest Boat Parade and the Pompano Boat Parade.” The company arrayed thousands of unwrapped toys beneath the airplane during the parades, much to the delight of more than one million children and adults watching live and on TV broadcasts.

Sky Limo, an air charter company based at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport, has contributed to numerous local charities in south Florida since its founding in 1998, and this year’s Toys for Tots effort will help cheer more than 100,000 underprivileged children in south Florida. The mission of Toys for Tots is to provide hope for less fortunate children and encourage them to become responsible, productive and patriotic citizens.

Construction of the Sky Limo Float

“We’re always looking to further immerse ourselves in the community,’” said Sky Limo owner Tom Conlan, “and this was a unique opportunity to do just that.”

Sky Limo Rides the Intracoastal in the Winterfest Boat Parade 2010

Full-service aviation company, Sky Limo Air Charter, collects more than 500 toys for Toys for Tots Campaign

After months of preparation, Sky Limo made its mark during this year’s Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade. The float, which was the brainchild of Sky Limo’s Tom Conlan, featured a 48-foot long, 8-passenger, twin-engine Sabre 60 jet aircraft that was mounted onto a barge. The Frank Sinatra inspired “Fly Me to the Moon” theme was complete with a lunar moon backdrop, dancing flight attendants, black-tie businessmen and a Frank Sinatra impersonator with a deejay playing his music.

“Taking part in this year’s Winterfest Boat Parade was an easy decision,” Conlan said. “We wanted to do something that [to our knowledge] has never been done before, while at the same time encouraging a family atmosphere amongst our employees. This was a project everyone here could have some fun with, as well as be able to celebrate the holiday season while doing something special for the community.”

Being involved in charity, and the community in general, is important to Sky Limo, which is why the company decided to launch a cooperative effort with the United States Marine Corps “Toys for Tots” campaign. With their Winterfest entry this year, Sky Limo mounted the aircraft a few feet up in the air, leaving an open area directly beneath the aircraft. Sky Limo, its employees and members of the community donated thousands of dollars worth of unwrapped toys, including bicycles, for “Toys for Tots.”

The mission of the Sky Limo Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys, and distribute those toys as gifts to needy children in the community. The primary goal is to deliver a message of hope to less fortunate children that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.
“Sky Limo is a company that is always looking to further immerse itself in the community where its employees work and live,” said Conlan. “And we strongly feel that this was a unique opportunity to do exactly that.”

Choosing a Seat on a Plane

So, you're going on vacation and you have to book your flight. Have you thought about where you'd like to sit? Some people are willing to pay extra to get a little more leg room or to sit in a less noisy area. Did you know that airlines charge “selection” fees for special requests? If you're looking to sit in front of the plane to maybe get that extra leg room, expect to pay extra for that. This is called “unbundling” and airlines will charge you for special requests. Generally, the best place to sit in a plane is the front. This is especially an advantage if you tend to get air sick because the plane is more stable towards the front and you're bothered less by the bathroom sounds. By flying on a private jet with Sky Limo Air Charter, you won’t have to deal with any of the typical hassles of flying or choosing a special seat. By taking a private aircraft, you'll have all the space and privacy you need to enjoy a relaxing flight. So make the right decision and instead of having to choose a good seat, simply choose Sky Limo.

Thanks Sky Limo

I wanted to fly on a specific date so I can make it to a business meeting in Denver but be back on time for my daughter’s birthday party in Los Angeles.
It was impossible to get a first class flight on a commercial airline so I had some assistance in contacting Sky Limo. I ended up booking an air charter on one of their fancy private planes so I can be super work partner and super dad at the same time.
My flight was really great. So much space on the plane, what a difference between flying solo and flying with tons of people on the plane. So quiet, no people talking, no babies crying I even got some work done and prepared for my meeting. The airport experience was also calm, no multiple security screenings, no waiting line, checking in, it was fast and painless.
On board I learned Sky Limo had concierge services. They can help with reserving hotel rooms, car rentals and tickets for special shows. They also provide gourmet food onboard that delicious.
Thanks Sky Limo for helping me make it back in time for my daughter’s birthday.

Unusual Motels

Bing has listed a bunch of unusual motels complete with their pictures online and Sky Limo, your private aviation company, wants to share. So here are a few on that list: The Hobbit Motel in Waitomo, New Zealand features units designed to mimic the hobbit habitat of ‘the Lord of the Rings’ movies that were filmed in New Zealand. It includes a plane, a rail car and a World Ward II patrol boat people can sleep in. The Jumbo Hostel next to the Stockholm Airport is a retired Boeing 747 with 25 rooms for hostel travelers. It has a total of 85 beds with views of the airport. Next on that list of unusual motels is the Quaker Square Inn in Akron, Ohio. The Iglu-Dorf operates six igloo villages in Andorra Germany and Switzerland. The igloos can accommodate up to six people and some even have an en-suite whirlpool. The Queen Mary is a floating hotel. It has 314 rooms decorated with Art Deco ambiance.

Flight Attendants Get Annoyed Regularly

Anonymous flight attendants posted some of the ways passengers on commercial airlines irritate them. With the help of budgettravel, com, Sky Limo, your private aviation company, shares with you their biggest pet peeves. First on the list is violating federal regulations when it comes to pets on board. Passengers violate rules when the dog is left loose in the aisle, tucked in a seatback pocket or on their lap. Second biggest pet peeve is when passengers shove their bags in the firs bin they see even though it’s nowhere near close to where they are sitting. Next biggest irritating thing passengers can do is to not act like a parent. Flight attendants said passengers asked them spare diapers, formula, medicine and toys. Flight attendants are also annoyed when passengers drag oversized and over-packed bags on board with them. Passengers expect them to put it in the overhead bin, which they are not supposed to. People complain about the fact that they haven’t been placed in a roomy exit-row seat, so flight attendants receive the gripe about it. Whining about the high price of flying is another thing people complain about when they’re onboard an airplane. All in all, flight attendants work hard.
