President Obama Restores Full Funding to FAA
According to cnn.com, today, President Obama signed the legislation temporarily restoring full funding to the Federal Aviation Administration. This allowed 4,000 federal employees to go back to work and brought back tens of thousands of jobs in the construction industry and other fields tied to the airport improvement projects that were put on the backburner because of the funding shortfall. The bill was passed with unanimous consent which allows two senators to approve a bill as long as there are objections filed. The political issues that made created the funding shortfall are not resolved as of now. Both Democrats and Republicans have different views on whether or not subsidies should be given to smaller rural airports, specifically in Nevada, Montana and New Mexico. Both parties are also debating whether to make it easier for airline employees to unionize. These issues will be discussed in six weeks’ time. This agreement is the 21st short-term funding extension.

How Old is Too Old For a Plane
A well-maintained aircraft can fly passengers for decades. According to MSN, the average age for US airline jets is 11 years. Older airplanes need not only more repairs, but also costlier ones. That’s why it’s sometimes more cost-efficient to add a new plane to the aircraft fleet rather then continuously repair the older ones. Older aircrafts also require more frequent inspections. Newer jets offer more fuel savings not to mention all the updated features in the cabins like personal televisions for each passenger. Almost one out of four airplanes of US airlines flying today is more than 15 years old. The Federal Aviation Administration doesn’t set a mandatory retirement age for aircrafts.

Aviation in the News
Just recently, according to cnn.com, the Federal Aviation Administration issued an emergency Airworthiness Directive mandating operators of at least 80 older Boeing 737s to perform inspections for wear and tear. This just days after Southwest Airline’s 737 made an emergency landing because of the hole in its fuselage. The planes have to be inspected every 500 cycles, in other words, every take-off and landing. This mandate affects about 80 U.S. registered planes and another 95 outside of the U.S. In light of this recent news, Sky Limo wants to reassure all of its passengers that we operate a outstanding fleet of private aircrafts with the highest standards of safety, quality and service. All Sky Limo Air Charter flight operations are performed in strict accordance with FAR Part 135 regulations, the most stringent Federal Aviation Administration classification for private aviation. In addition to those regulations, our operators and aircrafts are required to meet additional safety and reliability standards established by Sky Limo. Aircraft age, pilot training, maintenance history and safety are among the criteria that’s continuously reviewed. Rest assured, on a Sky Limo private aircraft you’re safe.
