Private Aviation in the News

According to an article on NoPlaneNoGain.com, Arkansas’ U.S. senators defended the use of corporate aircrafts, saying that flying aboard jets allowed executives to accomplish the business that can help revive the state’s economy. The article continues to explain that 3,500 people work in Arkansas’ aviation industry and is responsible for $1.4 billion in exports in 2008. Apparently, measured against individual commodities, aviation is the state’s top export. Paris-based Dassault and Wichita-based Hawker Beechcraft Corp. have completion centers at Little Rock, where workers paint and fit the planes with custom interiors. Dassault has 2,100 employees and Hawker Beechcraft Corp. has 600.
The president and chief executive of the General Aviation Manufacturers Association was quoted in the article saying that corporate jets make deals that keep the economy moving.
